Consult Naming Policy
11 Jan, 2024
This consultation period is from Thursday 11 January to Friday 2 February 2024.
Te Kaunihera Pūtaiao Hauora o Aotearoa | The Medical Sciences Council (the Council) is undertaking a review of the practitioner’s Naming Policy.
The policy describes how the Council may publish the name of a practitioner following an order or direction made about the practitioner under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003) (the HPCA Act). The policy outlines factors that the Council may take into consideration when it is deciding if it is going to name an individual.
While the Medical Sciences Council’s current Naming Policy has served the profession and the public to date, we need to make sure it is still appropriate and remains fit for purpose.
Anaesthetic Technology and Medical Laboratory Science practitioners are a crucial part of the health workforce in Aotearoa New Zealand. As registered health professionals under the HPCA Act the Council must ensure the Naming Policy is fair and reasonable within the decision-making framework and serves the public interest.
The Council invites you to read and consider our document - Consultation: Proposed changes to the Naming Policy for practitioners.
Please share your feedback with us by emailing your written responses to mscconsultations@medsci.co.nz. The Council looks forward to hearing from you.
The consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 2 February 2024.
